Newly Engaged? 10 things to do as soon as you get engaged

It’s our favorite time of the year!! Engagement Session. Did you know that engagements happen the most between thanksgiving and February?

Congratulations to all the newly engaged couples this holiday season. You said YES! Now the questions are starting to roll in. What is the wedding date? Where are you getting married? What are your wedding colors? Your head is already starting to spin. There are so many things to think about once you get engaged. Don’t panic, we’ve got you! Here 10 things to do as soon as you get engaged to ensure that you are taking the right steps now that that beautiful ring is on your finger. Enjoy!

  • Let it all sink in:

Yes! Take a minute and take it all in. Stare at your ring a million times a day. Look at your adorable fiancé and remind each other of how lucky you both are to have each other. Then stare at your ring a few more times.

  • Get a manicure:

Before you post your ring selfie, treat yourself to a manicure. You want clean and pretty nails when you show off your ring.

  • Share the good news with your friends and family:

This is fantastic news so don’t hesitate to share it with your loved ones. Celebrate this exciting new journey with your friends and family. Go out with your girl/guys and talk about the proposal.

  • Insure your ring:

Take that extra measure of protecting your ring. It can save you a lot of money in the long run so be sure to insure your ring.

  • Begin working on a guest list:

This is going to be a big help. Get a realistic sense of how many guests you are inviting to your wedding. It will help with budgeting, venue selections and more once the planning begins.

  • Start thinking of a vision for your wedding:

After all the calls and selfies, start playing around with dates, style, number of guests, who’s paying for what and your vision for your big day. You don’t have to know everything right away but start with something like dates your would like etc.

  • Discus a budget:

Everything boils down to numbers. Before making any wedding plans, this discussion needs to be had. A wedding planner can help define this a bit better but it helps to have a starting number. If parents are involved, they need to be a part of the budget conversation too.

  • Hire a wedding planner:

You saw this coming :-). As a wedding planner, I can’t stress the importance of having a wedding planner.  A wedding planner will guide you in the right direction and set the right expectations for your upcoming wedding and so much more. • Have an engagement party:

Now that you have your wedding planner, lock down a date for your engagement party. A wedding is an exciting journey and a celebration of your love for each other. So be sure to celebrate with your close friends and family. Some wedding planning packages includes planning other wedding related events other than the wedding day so be sure to speak with your wedding planner about that.

  • Trust the pros:

Now that you have hired a professional wedding planner and plans are in motion, relax and enjoy the journey.
