Invitation Elements & Etiquette
Your friends are flipping through their bills and stacks of magazine subscriptions until their finger tips feel something too smooth to be tossed in the trash like the rest of the pile – Good thing because it is your wedding invitation! It is the light at the bottom of the deep dark stack and it should be perfect, memorable and make an overwhelming impression. This is the first glance at your wedding style and the biggest night of your lives! Understanding the elements will better help you choose your invites so allow us to help you in the process. The bare necessities include the invitation, the response card and the envelope to hold it all together. Thermography (raised print) and Letter Press (words are pressed into the paper with a metal plate) are our favorite styles to lay out your names, address, hotel, etc. Be sure to include an envelope for your response card to make it easy on your potential guests – or use the more trendy post-card style. We are partial to envelopes with personalized calligraphy and wax stamps to give that vintage glam feel.
A map – especially if you’re having a destination wedding or many of your guests are from out of town!
A reception card – This will include the location of the reception, time, any additional information necessary – if this location is different from the ceremony.
A song request card – We adore this idea! This guarantees your guests will be out on the dance floor at some point during the night.
All additions can be held together in a folder pocket or wrapped together in a silk bow!
Perhaps the most important aspect of choosing your invitations is putting your own personal spin on it. The last thing you want is a generic invite that could be for anyones wedding. Make sure your invitations reflect you and your fiancés personal style and wedding style. People will be counting down the days with you when you WOW them with these invites!
Until next time…xoxo
